  • Join by September 9 to be recognized as a Founding Partner at the Launch.

Why is sex trafficking an issue for employers?
  • Sex traffickers and sex buyers put employers and their partners at risk.
  • Employees solicit sex from trafficking victims on company time, with company resources.
  • Sex traffickers & buyers use business premises.
  • Sex traffickers use business products and services. Learn more

Who are the victims?
  • 300-500 children are prostituted in greater Seattle - some as young as 11 years old.
  • More adults are forced, defrauded, or coerced into the sex trade and experience immense harm.
  • The typical age of entry into prostitution is 13 to 15 years old. Learn more

Who are the buyers?
  • An estimated 27,000 men are soliciting sex in King County, driving demand for trafficking victims... every day.
  • The majority of buyers arrested are employed by local businesses.
  • The highest percentages of people arrested for buying sex from under-age girls are employed by the IT, Retail, Manufacturing, and Construction industries. Learn more

What are the business risks of not addressing the issue?
  • Risk to reputation
  • Loss of federal contracts
  • Increased legal & financial risk
  • Decreased employee productivity
  • A hostile work environment Learn more

How can BEST help address the issue in a way that works with our business culture?

Alliance partners will have access to the BEST Self-Assessment. This tool helps your organization assess how it can work towards addressing the issues. It includes advice and content on how your organization can:
  • Ensure robust policies,
  • Educate employees,
  • Align procurement practices,
  • Share practices with customers & partners,
  • Support prevention efforts through philanthropy, and
  • Advocate on behalf of victims.

We are not asking organizations to tackle all the areas listed, but to assess which are the most relevant for your organization. Learn more

What benefits will the Alliance bring to my organization?
  • Protect your organization from risk while doing good.
  • Gain access to current research, policies, training, and best practice materials.
  • Participate in events to share information with leaders in the field.
  • Receive external recognition and validation for your actions.
  • Distinguish your brand.
